The coastal stretch bears the marks of civilization ranging from prehistoric to the colonial to the entirely contemporary. Contrasting markedly with the placid waters of Morocco’s Mediterranean coast, this long coastline is interspersed with simple white Koubbas, domes for Muslim saints’ tombs and scattered tiny fishing villages of extreme beauty and peacefulness. In spring the top of hills bloom with irises, calendula, poppies and mustards. While in summer , Moroccans rush to fill the beaches , the waterfront thrives with sun-tanned bodies .With autumn come breathtaking sunsets over the Atlantic .Winter , when it rains , Morocco sees its first brilliant green and winds bring exceptionally high tides and huge waves that break on jagged rocks and shoot spray to the tops of the cliffs. A real paradise for surfers! The climate remains generally moderate throughout: when it is cold inland, the coast enjoys relative warmth; and when the landlocked regions bake in the summer sun, the sea breeze cools the coast.. Coastal roads on the other side invite to venture beyond the country’s big center to explore seaside Medinas and bask in the breezy sunshine.
steering clear of the main tourists areas , this holiday offers that very special magic of the Atlantic - small simple fishing villages tucked away along the coast and Atlas mountains, isolated beaches, secluded ergs and Saharan dunes. We plan to hike the south of Essaouira, Mirleft and Tantan and meander along the warm south-west coastal Beaches, staying in villages , enjoying the simple life of undisclosed hamlets and fabulous seafood.
