About Moroccan Skies :

Traditionnal door knocker

Our first steps in the world of adventure began years ago when our desire to share the wonders and culture of Morocco with the rest of the world grew into the development of a unique travel organization.  Since those beginnings, we have broadened our horizons to offer a range of travel adventures in many parts of the country.

We offer a wide range of treks, walks, Sahara expeditions, skiing or climbing in the Atlas Mountains and many other exciting options.  While some require physical as well as mental stamina, most are adventures which can be enjoyed by anyone with an enquiring mind who enjoys getting off the beaten track, discovering and learning about the country and its history.

The spirit of adventure and learning are at the core of what we offer.  We are dedicated to providing quality, innovation, value and challenge within a framework of ecologically sound adventures.  We offer an enormous range of different escapes, from easy walks to 4,000 metre climbs, from the High Atlas Mountains to the vast ergs in the south.  Accommodation too can be varied, from top-end establishments through good quality to basic, all carefully chosen to offer value for money.

1. Do I need insurance?

Adequate and valid travel insurance is a must to have on all Moroccan skies trips. It must therefore cover accidents, injuries, and illness and death medical expenses, including any or related to pre-existing medical conditions, emergency repatriation (helicopter or air ambulance where it is available). We also recommend covering cancellations, curtailment and luggage losses and personal effects such as cameras, passports and valuables. When in Morocco you should carry a document/ proof of your insurance to join our trips. Your safety is our priority.

2. Does Moroccan Skies offer insurance?

Not at all. As a tour agency we are insured locally for all sorts of activities we are operating. Thus, we are covered within respect of the local legislations and laws. Yet, your insurance coverage should be insured also by your national insurance operator.

6. What consumer protection do Moroccan Skies offer?

We’re aware that consumer protection is an important issue for many people. Once you’ve paid us for your trip, all funds /moneys are paid into a separate trust account. This money is not transferred into our Moroccan Skies account until after the successful completion of your trip.

7. Why travel with Moroccan Skies?

The most important difference between Moroccan Skies and the vast majority of its competitors is that the company is managed by experienced travel professionals who live year-round in Morocco. In a country like Morocco, where unmonitored arrangements can be a daily matter and sometimes do not go according to plan, where services need to be constantly checked up and improved, where new exciting routes need to be regularly researched, and where tourist services (new auberges, riads etc) are changing so rapidly, we feel it is essential to be close to keep control of all these factors. We know well  the ground where we were born, we know the culture, and we’ve invested an enormous amount of time into finding spectacular routes that other operators do not know about in order to offer you the best of what both rural and modern Morocco have to offer.

In addition we spend less time and energy banging on about being an eco-tour operator and more time putting these principles into practice on the ground. We know more and support local communities and we pay good salaries to encourage excellent work in a country where the standard of living for many is incredibly low. Our overall philosophy is to show visitors in a fun, and sometimes challenging way, a side to Morocco that tourists on other style of tour will never see.

8. Complaints

If you have any complaints about your trip, you must make it known at the earliest opportunity to the leader and/ or Moroccan Skies local representative, who will normally take appropriate action. If at the end of the trip you feel your complaint has not been properly dealt with you must notify us in writing within 30 days of the end of your trip.

About Morocco:

Moroccan gate

Morocco is a rugged land of mountains, plains and desert and thousands of miles of unspoiled Mediterranean and Atlantic coastline.  Its borders are with Algeria and Mauritania and it is home to Africa’s highest range of mountains north of the equator as well as a portion of the Sahara, the largest desert in the world.  The most western of the North African ‘Mahgreb’ countries, it lies just across the Straits of Gibraltar from Spain, a short flight from Europe.

Morocco is becoming a favoured tourists desintation which caters for a wide range of tourist activities in a country that still has vast tracts of the country that remain largely undiscovered.  Its culture is mainly defined by religion (Islam) and geography and its proximity to Europe provides a readily reached exotic destination.  Whether in the ancient medinas of Fez or Marrakech where metal workers ply their trade in cave-like recesses, or in remote villages clustered around mountainside mosques, you will find a culture and experience which is as much about atmosphere as anything else.

Enjoy the many and contrasting facets of Morocco – the elegant Moorish architecture of Marrakech, Fez and Casablanca, the dreamy valleys, adobe villages, crisp snow-capped mountains of the High Atlas, the encroaching dunes of the Sahara desert, the surf beaches of the Atlantic coast, the weathered 11th century desert Kasbahs rising out of date palm oases, the rolling plains of wheat, the high pastures of wild flowers where nomads still retain their ancient way of life or the crumbling remains of ancient Roman civilizations.

Visitors are always welcome in Morocco, as you will readily find whenever you arrive in any town or village across the country.  Moroccans are always delighted to share of cup of mint tea with a visitor, regardless of colour or creed.  Indeed the drama of the Atlas  Mountains are made all the more appealing by their hospitable habitants.  The wonderful expanses of the countryside offer visitors the luxury of space, something becoming more and more rare in the more densely populated parts of the world.  Morocco provides limitless possibilities for discovery and adventure across a stunning and varied landscape.
